Wilhelm von Gegerfelt

Wilhelm von Gegerfelt (1844–1920) was a Swedish painter known for his landscapes, cityscapes, and maritime scenes. He studied at the Royal Swedish Academy and the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, connecting him to the Düsseldorf School which emphasized detailed and idealized representations. In the 1870s he joined the Skagen Painters in Denmark, a group focused on plein air painting and capturing northern light. Gegerfelt had a particular love for Venice, often painting its canals and architecture. His works are held in major collections, including the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm and Skagens Museum.
