Lovis Corinth (1858-1925) was a German painter and printmaker associated with the Impressionist and Expressionist movements in Germany. Born in Tapiau, Prussia (now Gvardeysk, Russia), Corinth is known for his diverse body of work, which includes landscapes, portraits, and self-portraits.
He studied art in Königsberg and Munich, and his early works were influenced by Impressionism, marked by the use of vibrant colors and loose brushwork. Later in his career, Corinth transitioned to a more Expressionist style, characterized by bold, dramatic compositions and intense emotional expression.
