Carlo Dalgas (1821-1851) was a Danish painter recognized for his contributions to early 19th-century European art. Born in Naples, Dalgas moved to Denmark in 1830 and was influenced by the national-liberal ideas of his era. He studied with the Danish painter Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg between 1837 and 1845. Dalgas is celebrated as part of the Golden Age of Danish painting, alongside contemporaries like Christian Skovgaard and Johan Thomas Lundbye.

Dalgas also had a keen interest in animal painting and was influenced by Dutch animal painters, evident in his work. His contributions to the Golden Age of Danish painting are noted for their sentimental mood and picturesque qualities, capturing the spirit of the era.
