During his time In Mexico City, Antonio Fabrés taught Saturnino Herrán, who would go on to become one of the leading figures in Mexican modernism.

Antonio Fabrés (1854–1938) was a Spanish painter and sculptor known for his detailed portraits and Orientalist themes. He trained in Barcelona and Rome to become a international recognized artist. He worked in Mexico for several years before returning to Europe.
At the end of his life he donated a large number of paintings to Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya in understandment that a hall would be built in his name, but the museum never built the hall.
