Leander Engström was a Swedish painter known for his bold expressionist landscapes and portraits. Leander trained in Stockholm and under Henri Matisse in Paris, he co-founded the artist group De Unga with fellow Matisse students, applying French-inspired expressionism to Swedish motifs.
